Nice build, one of the nicest I have seen here . how can we find out more about it? you talk about kits.. more info Thanks
Thanks for the positive comments, we really did put a lot of thought into this. We designed the kit from scratch to be a production unit, but with the proviso that we wanted to use the OB extrusions which are readily available, so after some time we ended up with this kit which we think is a vast improvement on other OB kits. More information at 'workbee cnc upgrades' on Facebook or on our website A USA dealer will be appointed soon as well so kits can be purchased from them. You can see 3D files here as a well: Base unit, Y gantry, Z Gantry and more available. Note that we chose to put the linear rails top and lower on the C-Beam because putting the linear rails on the edge of the c-beam exacerbates axis twist.. basically a design fault for those kits that do this.
Thanks for the info, just a question? I have read, that the linear rail system should not be used upsidedown? They are meant for top and sides? Maybe it was a paticular manufacturer only That recommended this not sure. Thanks.
Linear carriage blocks should not be turned upside down when they are off the rail because the ball bearings might slip out. But once on the rail they are fine. The lubrication system (silicon grease) is not dependent on gravity so linear rails & carriages can be mounted in any direction. My point was that mounting the linear rails on the C-Beam edge increases the distance of the X/Z gantry from the X axis C-Beam so actually increases the twist force.
